Jury determined CommScope infringed on two of Dali’s patents and Dali infringed on five of Commscopes.
Dali Wireless, which designs wireless systems to help improve in-building cellular communications, recently won its multi-year legal battle with CommScope Technologies, the company announced in a release. The decision came from the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas in Dallas on June 19. Dali Wireless said it received a favorable decision in a patent dispute over distributed antenna system (DAS) technology from the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas in Dallas last week.
CommScope Technologies filed lawsuit No. 3:16-cv-00477 with the U.S. District Court in February 2016. The Dallas jury determined that CommScope infringed both Dali patents-in-suit (U.S. Patent Nos. 9,031,521 and 9,531,473) and awarded $9 million in damages to Dali Wireless. In the same lawsuit, the jury determined that Dali Wireless infringes CommScope’s patents, and awarded CommScope $1.98 million.

CommScope (COMM +0.2%) was ordered to pay Dali Wireless $9M in its District Court decision over patents tied to digital distributed antenna systems, Dali notes.
Dali was ordered to pay $1.98M for patent infringement in the same decision, but "The difference in the awards underscores the importance of Dali Wireless’ innovative technology over CommScope’s older technology. Dali Wireless is very pleased by the decision," says Dali CEO Dr. Albert Lee.
